Due to TVXQ’s absence due to military service, SM’s results facing a decline…operating profit 43.15% ↓
Due to the artistes in the agency that are in the midst of fulfilling their military service, KOSDAQ (Korean stock exchange) -listed entertainment company, SM’s results have faced a decline. On the 9th, according to the Financial Supervisory Service’s Electronic Disclosure System, SM’s consolidated operating profit fell by 207 billion won compared to last year, which was a decline of 43.15%. Although sales increased 7.51% in the same period to 349 billion won, net profit recorded a percentage decrease of 78.8% to 40 billion won. A SM official explained, “as a portion of our artistes are in the midst of military service, activities have been reduced and as such, the operating profit has declined.”
