The Returned U-Know Yunho, This was Really the Return of a King
U-Know Yunho has finally returned to the stage. It was a moment where the weight of the words, “the king’s return” was felt.
On the 8th, through the SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR VI in SEOUL concert that was held at the Sangam-dong World Cup Stadium in Seoul, Mapo-gu from 6pm, TVXQ’s U-Know Yunho presented his first stage in a long time, and greeted fans.
TVXQ had enlisted to fulfil their military service obligations, with the two members going one after another, after their pre-enlistment June 2015 encore concert came to an end. U-Know Yunho who got discharged first last Apirl, had been focused on filming for his drama “Meloholic” after deciding on it. Without any music-related news, that day, through the SMTOWN concert, he returned as a singer for the first time in 2 years. In 2015, a few days before U-Know Yunho was due to enlist, at the SMTOWN concert in Osaka, Japan, Choikang Changmin had participated by himself, and this time in a reversal, with Choikang Changmin due to be discharged in August, U-Know Yunho did his stage by himself.
After the concert had started and gone on for 3 hours and 30 minutes, finally U-Know Yunho appeared. As the video altering his return was screen, anticipation and tension began to peak. In an instant, in the fan seats, the great many red lightsticks that represent TVXQ were switched on. U-Know Yunho opened his solo stage with his new song, ‘Drop”. Accompanied by many dancers, he who appeared, fit his onstage nickname of ‘king’ perfectly.
TVXQ’s hit songs, ‘Mirotic’, and ‘WHY’ which followed was a time to anticipate the day that the two members, U-Know Yunho and Choikang Changmin would stand side-by-side on stage. Although it was their Japanese hit song, ‘Somebody to Love’ is also fairly well-known domestically, and the Korean version was done enthusiastically with everyone running about on stage. Even with 2 years of hiatus due to the army, with his unchanging perfect looks and the passion with which he ran about relentlessly on stage, it was not just TVXQ’s fans, but everyone else who was there, that were impressed.
That day, poise and charisma of 14 years with which U-Know Yunho delivered his greeting could be strongly felt. Although he said “I was nervous. As it had been such a long time since I last (stood on) such a big stage, I was very nervous,” his appearance was full of force, to the extent that it could not be felt that there was such a pressure (on him). In his talk which was delivered skillfully, he even showed appreciation to the staff who were working hard behind the scenes, from that, his experience (at doing such things) could be seen. At the same time, while he stood on stage by himself, as there is not much time left before Choikang Changmin is discharged, there is anticipation for TVXQ’s complete comeback. It was really the return of the king.
