[Partial Trans] 150908 Entertainment Companies whom are Affected by the Enlistment of their artistes

News excerpt, TVXQ!-related only: Entertainment Companies whom are Affected by the Enlistment of their artistes

TVXQ!’s U-Know Yunho has enlisted into the army on 7/21. On that same day, SM’s share price closed with 2.50% down. This was most probably due to the expected reduction in sales as a result of TVXQ! hiatus due to the absent of U-Know Yunho.

Last Year, TVXQ! in Japan alone has brought total sales of 3.691 billion yen (equivalent to 34 billion won then). This is an amount that ranked them at 5th place with the highest total sales in Japan (including local Japanese artistes).

TVXQ!

This outfit is one of the initial boundary-pushers for what it meant to be a global Korean act. Most notably, the group lead the way for K-pop to enter and thrive in the humongous Japanese record industry, but also held a Guinness world record for the largest official fan club, broke overseas touring records in Japan and headlined Billboard’s K-Pop Masters concert in Las Vegas — one of the very first large-scale Korean pop shows in America. With more than a decade active, TVXQ! were one of the first acts to defy the usual five-year expiration date for Korean pop acts, setting the stage for other acts to enjoy greater and longer success.
